We are pleased to announce that Peter MacKinnon has agreed to an extension of his contract as Interim President of Athabasca University. Given the important work Peter has undertaken, and the excellent relationship he has built with faculty and staff, governments and our Campus Alberta partners in the short time since his arrival, the Board of Governors has agreed to extend his contract until June 30, 2016.

Apart from the extension of term, the agreement otherwise remains unchanged. Both parties agreed that the term may be further extended.

“Given the important work Peter has undertaken, and the excellent relationship he has built with governments, the other Campus Alberta institutions, and faculty and staff in the short time since his arrival, the Executive Committee of the Board felt it was important to maintain continuity in university leadership,” said Barry Walker, Chair of the Board of Governors. “I can wholeheartedly say that we are very fortunate to have such an esteemed leader at the helm of Athabasca University.”
