The Hub Holiday closure

Holiday closure

Athabasca University is closed for the holidays on the following dates:

  • End of day at 4:30 p.m. MST on Thursday, Dec. 23, 2021, through Jan. 3, 2022.
  • Although AU team members will be back in the office on 8:30 a.m. MST on Tuesday, Jan. 4, 2022, full phone service will resume at 8:30 a.m. MST on Thursday, Jan. 6, 2022

Ask AU

If you have a question about AU while we’re closed, try our automated system Ask AU. (Ask AU is also a great place to start even when we’re open!)

Contact us

All other contact information for university student services, departments and more can be found at AU: Contact Us. We will respond to all inquiries in the order they were received when regular business operations resume.

Social media

Please also keep in mind that AU’s social media channels will not be actively monitored during the holiday break. Don’t worry, we’ll get back to you soon!

A note about exams

Although the exam-booking process will not be affected by the closure, the Examination Services unit will not process any exam requests during this period. We strongly encourage all students to submit exam requests as early as possible to ensure they are processed well in advance of the declared exam write dates.

All exams must be written online. AU’s exam centres in Athabasca, Edmonton, and Calgary remain closed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Exam invigilation

AU encourages learners to use ProctorU whenever possible, but undergraduate learners can have their online exams invigilated by any third-party invigilators approved as part of AU’s Exam Invigilation Network, in addition to ProctorU.

If you are having your online exam invigilated in person, it is your responsibility to confirm your invigilator’s availability. Read more about using third-party in-person invigilation for your online exams.

Booking your exam

Regardless of your choice of invigilator, booking an exam is still a two-step process:

  1. Book your exam invigilation appointment with your invigilator at least 20 days in advance, then
  2. Book your exam with AU through MyAU

As long as the request is made prior to your course contract end date, you can declare a write date of up to 30 days after your course contract end date. Read more about exam policies and deadlines.

Happy holidays from Athabasca University!

Warmest wishes for a merry, joyful, and bright holiday season from AU interim president Deborah Meyers and president-designate Peter Scott!
