Athabasca University (AU) is open for business and continues to serve learners. As a digital university, we can help you learn and complete your studies from home. You can apply anytime and many of our courses start on the first of every month.
With the evolving COVID-19 global pandemic we are taking measures to protect learners and team members. We will regularly update information on this page to keep you apprised of changes.

While our university remains open to support you and classes will continue as usual, we are adjusting to help keep our AU team members safe and, wherever possible, working from home.
Reaching us by email is the most efficient method. Email contacts are listed in the Quick Reference section of the Learner Q&A.
Please use this format, so we can get back to you with the right information more quickly.
Subject: LAST NAME, FIRST NAME: A brief description of what you’re looking for or why you’re emailing
Example: FREUD, SIGMUND: Course extension for PSYC 200
Body: Please begin the body of your email with your Student ID number
Please know that while we are dealing with a high volume of requests and inquiries from our learners, we are working as quickly as we can to respond. Please do not send multiple emails about the same topic, as that may slow our response time.
We appreciate your ongoing patience and understanding. Please know that we are doing everything we can to get back to you as quickly as possible.
On Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, AU’s phone line, 1-800-788-9041, will be open from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. MST with a break from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. MST. These hours will be available Monday-Friday until Dec. 23, 2020.
We then close the university for the holiday break beginning Dec. 24, 2020. These new hours for phone service will remain active in the new year, at which point we will review service delivery in preparation to expand service hours.
Please note that AU is closed during the holiday break, returning Jan. 4, 2021. To address service requests received over the holidays, AU’s inbound phone service will not resume until Jan. 6, 2021.
To reach the Information Centre, please first visit AskAU to see if your question has already been answered. If it hasn’t, you can use the web-contact form found at the bottom of the page to ask a question, and a team member from the Information Centre will respond as quickly as possible.
