Introducing AU’s new library website

Redeveloped, reorganized, and improved to make it easier to find the library resources you need

You may have noticed things look a little different on many of Athabasca University’s (AU) websites. You should find that they’re easier to navigate and to find the information you’re looking for!

The digital experience project at AU

As a digital university, AU understands how important our websites are for finding the information you need, when you need it. We have made improvements to our websites through the Digital Experience Project, and the AU Library site is now ready!

AU Library website now available

The biggest change you will notice on the new library site is that it is more intuitive and easier to find what you’re looking for. The familiar search tools are still on the home page, and we have relabelled the main navigation menu to help you find what you need more quickly.

AU librarians Jorden Habib and Joanna Nemeth put together an orientation to help you get familiar with the changes. In the main navigation, you will find a section called “How to use the library,” which will also give you guidance on using the new site.

“While the site has been redeveloped and reorganized, there are some familiar features, like the main search boxes,” said Elaine Fabbro, AU’s university librarian. “We’ve worked really hard with our AU colleagues and are proud of the improvements that will make it easier for everyone to use the AU Library.”

Supporting your research

It will also be clearer on how to get library support and information. With information on how to plan your research, how to find the sources, data, and materials you need, and how to evaluate and cite your research sources, everything you need to do successful research is there.

There are even discipline-specific research guides and an “Ask us” box on the site that will connect you with an AU librarian during regular business hours.

You may have to change some of your bookmarks, but overall you should find the new library site more intuitive and easier to get the information you need.
