Please welcome Kristine Williamson, Vice President, University Relations
We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Kristine Williamson as Vice President, University Relations.
Kristine joined Athabasca University on October 1, 2018.
Ms. Williamson brings with her 20 years of experience and leadership in the private, public and non-profit sectors. She will be based at our Calgary campus and have a strong presence in both Athabasca and Edmonton.

Ms. Williamson comes to Athabasca University having most recently served as the Vice President, Engagement for the Alberta College of Art and Design (ACAD). Responsible for the strategic direction and operation of the Engagement team at ACAD, Ms. Williamson is also leading the branding and renaming project for ACAD since the Government of Alberta granted it with university status earlier this year.
Prior to her role at ACAD, Ms. Williamson held a series of progressively senior roles in the development office at the University of Calgary, ending her tenure as the Associate Vice President, Development. At that time, the university was heavily engaged in a $1.3 billion fundraising campaign and Ms. Williamson led a dedicated team of 40 professionals in achieving annual fundraising goals in excess of $55 million.
Through her diverse experience, Ms. Williamson will bring strong leadership, mentorship, and a service-based culture to the University Relations team at AU and will significantly contribute to the ongoing success of the university at the executive level.
Ms. Williamson holds a Master of Business Administration from Royal Roads University and a Bachelor of Science from the University of Saskatchewan.
