This year, our reimagined convocation will include the historic and traditional elements of our in-person celebration, along with the modern twist of being delivered virtually to this year’s graduands from across the globe.
Convocation is a special time to reflect on a learners’ educational journey, look toward to a bright future, and to celebrate with those who supported you along the way—family, friends, and the entire AU community.
High-five from AU learners and alum!
We want you to help us make #AthaU20 even more memorable for our graduates by participating in their experience!
What? Provide a 15-30 second congratulatory video clip. How you (tastefully) direct it is up to you. We just want grads to feel the love!
Here are some tips for shooting video on your phone:
- Do not hold your camera vertically like the person above, hold it horizontally so we don’t get black bars on the side of the video.
- Whether it’s someone recording you, or you are doing it yourself, try to shoot far enough away that it’s not just your face. People don’t react well to close-up faces. Instead, try to shoot from your chest up. Your shoulders should be seen and your background is noticeable.
- Shoot with the light in front of you so your face is lit up. Backlit makes it hard to see you. You can adjust your light so you aren’t squinting. Feel free to get creative with the light around you and make yourself shine!
How? Email us your video using the subject line #AthaU20 Video.
When? We’ll be collecting submissions until September 15, 2020.
We’ll compile and share the videos leading up to, and on the day of #AthaU20, October 2, 2020!
Not only are we celebrating our Class of 2020 this year … we’re also celebrating our 50th year as an institution! So ….we’ll be giving away Beyond 50 swag to 5 lucky entrants of the #AthaU20 Video Project!
