This year Athabasca University (AU) is celebrating 50 years of innovation in education. Since 1970 AU has been dedicated to the removal of barriers in education to “transform lives and communities”. AU provides accessibility to education for everyone to achieve their individual learning goals and to reach their highest potential.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS), the Athabasca University Graduate Students’ Association (AUGSA), and the university community have come together again to present our annual Graduate Student Research Conference (GSRC). In this incredibly unprecedented year the significance of “Moving Beyond” is even more poignant. Not only did it start out to be our 50th anniversary and a time to reflect on the possibilities for the future of education, it quickly became a time in which innovation to meaningfully educate and connect everyone in the world took on more urgency and relevance.

This year the conference will be fully virtual, with additional opportunities to interact and socialize online. To highlight the theme of “Moving Beyond” we will include a number of topics through our speakers and presenters to address innovation, disruption, and societal health. We will also celebrate 50 years of student success!

We look forward to the participation of all graduate students, faculty, and staff.
