Call for abstracts: 2022 Graduate Student Research Conference

Are you a graduate student doing research as a part of your AU studies? If so, the 2022 Graduate Student Research Conference (GSRC) is the perfect place to develop and gain research presentation experience (which is an incredible asset to add to your resume or for future graduate program applications).

To get involved and present, the Athabasca University Graduate Students’ Association and the Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) are excited to announce that the call for abstracts is now open! Be sure to submit an abstract before August 15, 2022.

When is the deadline to submit my abstract?
August 15, 2022 is the deadline to submit your abstract for the GSRC.

Who can apply?
Current AU graduate learners and recently graduated alumni are invited to submit an abstract for the conference.

Are there prizes for the winners?
Cash prizes sponsored by the Faculty of Graduate Studies will be awarded to the top 3 graduate submissions.

What do I need to know about applying?
True to our tradition, once again this year, we encourage submissions from all disciplines, whether the research is completed or underway. We also strongly encourage new graduate students who have not started their own research to attend and gain experience.

What format types will you accept for abstracts?
Virtual paper presentations: 15 minute presentation, followed by a 5-minute question period
Virtual poster presentations: 5-minute presentation. Each poster will also be available for viewing on Padlet where comments can be made

What if it’s my first time submitting a conference abstract? 
On July 26, 2022 at 1 p.m. (Mountain), Sarah-Jean Watt, AU’s Write Site Coordinator, will deliver a talk that provides valuable tips on preparing and creating an impactful abstract for a conference.
