Get a PhD while working full-time? It seems impossible, but it’s not! Join us as Dr. Hongxing Geng talks about how he did it and how you can too.
Hongxing Geng received his PhD degree from University of Saskatchewan in 2017. His research focuses on the theory and practice of interactions in concurrent systems. He is also a senior systems/programmer analyst for library and scholarly resources at Athabasca University. In 2007, he obtained his Master of Science Degree in Computer Science from the University of Saskatchewan.
In this talk, Dr. Geng will give his own story for pursuing his Ph.D. degree while working full-time. From his motivation for beginning his journey, to the four stages of the entire process: taking courses, doing literature reviews, finding a research topic, and writing and defending a thesis, Dr. Geng will describe the strategies he used and emphasize on time management.
