The Hub 2018 Dean’s Award for Coaching Excellence

2018 Dean’s Award for Coaching Excellence

The Dean’s Award for Coaching Excellence recognizes outstanding coaching by Faculty of Business graduate level academic coaches.

This distinguished award for excellence in coaching is given annually in recognition of the notable achievements in the following areas: excellence in presentation of subject matter, innovation of delivery, sustained achievements in coaching, and high standards of service to students.

This year we recognized two outstanding coaches for their contributions to the MBA program. Congratulations to Lee Ann Kemple, Academic Coach, Marketing, Strategy and Mark Alpern, Academic Coach, Strategy!

Lee Ann has been with the Faculty of Business for a number of years, teaching courses such as strategic management and marketing management. Lee Ann students and colleagues had many kind words to share to her. “Her enthusiasm and vitality is animating and she will dependably be the voice of motivation to set you back on track and point you the correct way”, said one of her students. Faculty of Business Dean, Dr. Deborah Hurst, shared kind words about Lee Ann as well, “she is always ready to contribute, her sincere commitment to our students and our programs, her energy, professionalism, sense of humour – all lead to simply a pleasure to work with her!”

Mark has taught a variety of courses within the MBA program, such as strategic management and information technology strategy. He was nominated by several of his colleagues who spoke incredibly highly of him, “Over the years, Mark has demonstrated a consistent and impressive engaging style with his students in strategic management. He is very friendly and professional in the online discussions with students. Mark’s course evaluations reflect the high-caliber of his command of the material, quality of feedback to students and responsiveness”. Dr. Deborah Hurst has known Mark for many years, first as a student, then as an academic coach in our MBA program and for a time as an AU colleague as he was the Director of Operations for a time here. She appreciates the commitment he has to both the program and to his students.

Congratulations to both Lee Ann and Mark!
