Four tips for booking your AU exams with ProctorU
There’s nothing worse than booking your exam, studying all month, then on the day of realizing you didn’t correctly book your exam! These four tips will help you make sure you get it right.
Since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, Athabasca University has only been issuing online exams. We recommend you book with ProctorU, but we also recognize not everyone can use their services. You can also book your online exam with some in-person invigilators.
Here are four things you need to keep in mind when booking an online exam with ProctorU:

Tip 1: Take our advice and book twice!
The most important thing to remember is you follow the two-step exam registration process:
First, you have to request to request your exam invigilation appointment with ProctorU (or your invigilator of choice) at least 20 days before your desired exam date, then
Second, you have to request your exam through your myAU account.
That’s one exam, two bookings. You must repeat this process for every individual exam you want to book.
Tip 2: Make sure your name is the same.
Your first and last names should be the same in your myAU account, your ProctorU account, and on your government-issued photo ID. If the names don’t match, you may not be able to complete your exam. If you need to, you can read how to change your name in AU’s systems.
Tip 3: Run an equipment test and avoid some stress.
There are specific technical requirements to use ProctorU as an invigilator for your exam. You can read about equipment requirements on the ProctorU website. Please test your setup before your exam date, to ensure the computer you will be using for your exam meets the requirements!
Tip 4: Not everything is uniform, use the right platform.
Be prepared to take your exam on the right platform! Depending on your course your exam may be written using Much Learning, LotusNotes, or MapleTA. Confirmation of your exam platform can be found in your course notes and in the confirmation you receive from AU.
Once you have correctly booked your exam, on exam day a ProctorU invigilator will clear you to start your exam. You will then access the right exam platform with the link provided to you.
Finally...
If you have any issues on the day of your AU exam, If you have any issues during the exam, connect with your ProctorU invigilator through the chatbox or through ProctorU’s support team.
