We live in a plugged-in and tuned-out world. Having a particular skill set or talent, or selling a good product or service, no longer guarantees success.

With so many people’s lives on social media, finding ways to stand out poses a challenge—which is why establishing and creating a personal brand is of utmost importance.

Individuals and companies alike struggle to be seen in a crowded marketplace. Now more than ever, it is critical for you to understand what your purpose is—your why—what drives your brand, and who your audience is. Your story is your personal brand, but your personal brand also has to tell a story.

Messaging is commonplace, and there may be countless other brands out there with similar messages to yours. People don’t buy it anymore. They want transparency, authenticity and humanity.

People remember stories more than they remember facts or information, but the story has to be genuine. If you say that you care about a cause, you need to back that up with real action.

The story your personal brand tells has to reveal your brand’s heart and soul. You have to be authentic, but you also need to know what you want your story to say about you. How do you want people to remember you? What do you want to share? Dig deep and get to know yourself well so that when you tell a story with your brand, it reveals the authentic you that is a unique individual with so much to offer.
