You can help support mental health and wellness at AU!

You can help AU support the health and mental wellness of students like you.

Here's how.

AU is participating in the National College Health Assessment (NCHA) Survey, which asks students about various areas relating to health, mental health, substance use, and academic life. In fact, the Government of Alberta has required all post-secondary institutions in the province to participate so that we can compare our health and mental health data with other post-secondary institutions in Alberta.

Why is this important?

Data from this survey helps AU deliver the health and mental wellness supports that allow you to focus on achieving your academic goals. It helps us understand how we are doing in what we are offering now and how we can continue to improve in the future.

How can you participate?

Invitations to participate have been sent to randomly selected students via email. If you receive an email with “NCHA” in the subject line, please don’t delete it! This is a great opportunity to anonymously share your thoughts about a wide range of important and personal topics. All survey submissions are anonymous and confidential.

What happens next?

Because some of the survey questions ask about potentially sensitive topics, you may find yourself seeking support after completing the survey. If you want to talk with someone, you can contact our Student Wellness Program.

What if you’re not randomly selected to participate?

The NCHA survey is not the only way to share your feedback with us. We’d love to hear about your experiences, your ideas, and the topics that matter to you. Your comments could lead to the development of new programs that will support students like you.

Feel free to send us an email anytime at: mentalhealth@athabascau.ca. Every message that we receive at this account is treated as confidential and will not impact your course or program standing.

What if you have more questions?

We love questions! If you have any other questions about the NCHA Survey or about anything related to mental health and wellness, feel free to email them to: mentalhealth@athabascau.ca.
